5 types of natural medicine you have access to right now

Sun

We all know how important it is for plants to get enough sun in order for them to thrive, well human beings require the same thing! Our body converts the sunlights energy into vitamin D which is one of the most important vitamins our body needs!

Vitamin D affects our immune system, mood, aging, and gut health just to name a few! Read more about the importance of Vitamin D here

It is so easy to get some more sunlight. And it’s free!!!

Here are some ways you can get more sunlight in your life:

  • simply have breakfast on your patio in the morning
  • walk to your neighborhood store instead of driving
  • take more walks
  • picnic

Quiet Time/Rest

Especially as a mother, I notice it is common that we women are constantly running around and trying to get something done. As human beings it is important to take a break and spend some time relaxing and allowing our bodies to digest.

Taking a break from constantly being on flight or fight mode will allow your body time to detox, digest, and calm. Rest allows your body time to switch away from survival mode where flight or fight causes your brain to release hormones like cortisol and adrenaline when dealing with daily stressors in your busy life.. Those are the same hormones that are released if say, you were to come across an angry bear.

You can help yourself have more rest time by simply doing activities like breathing exercises, journaling, massage, meditation, and bathing.

Grounding

Grounding or earthing is a form of natural medicine that we were always meant to naturally do. Because well, we weren’t born with shoes 😄 Grounding is simply walking barefoot on natural surfaces like dirt, grass, natural water, etc and connecting with the natural currents of the earth through your skin. This simple therapeutic practice reconnects you to the earth giving your body positive effects. There is a never ending amount of positive electrons that the earth has to offer so when you are grounded the energy flows through to your body.

Grounding can give you the energy you need to overcome physical or mental obstacles. Going back to basics and walking the earth like we were meant to is a super easy natural medicine you have access to right now! So make conscious choices to do it more!

Stretch

A good stretch is a wonderful therapy and a great form of self care practice. Stretching to help improve the fascia is very important. The fascia is the connective tissue that runs throughout your whole body and surrounds your muscles, bones, tissue, and organs. Stretching improves flexibility, posture, strengthens muscles, and is very relaxing.

Stretching releases stagnant energy caused by emotions in our fascia. Stress, anxiety, anger, and sadness can become blocked energy deep into your body, but stretching, especially the hip area, releases this energy.

Stretching allows more blood flow to run throughout your body, which helps release toxins and tension in your muscles. It gives you more good energy and oxygen to flow through.

If your facia isnt working properly it can cause tightness and bad posture which can lead to painful joints and muscles. So stretching can help with physical pain you may be experiencing.

Stretching for 5-10 minutes a day is so beneficial! Plus you'll have your splits down in no time 😉

Cold Showers

Scientists have found that taking cold showers regularly benefits weight loss, energy, will power, and immune response. A long time ago my husband introduced me to the Wim Hof Method of taking cold showers, which benefits your mind and body. You can read more about the Wim Hof method here

Taking cold showers increases alertness because the cold temperature wakes your body up causing you to take deeper breaths and bringing in more oxygen to your body which leads to less CO2 in your body keeping you more sharp.

Also, cold showers produce more white blood cells in your body, which protects your immune system against diseases, keeping you healthier.

Taking cold showers causes some level of consistent stress which leads to you be able to handle stressful situations better and keep yourself calmer when obstacles do occur.

That is another simple way you can give yourself therapy, self care, and medicine that you have access to right now!

I hope you found these 5 types of natural medicine that you have access to right now helpful! Please let me know your thoughts or questions below.
